Redcurrent Thermal Imaging Services

All objects above -273°C emit infrared radiation. Thermography is the technique which uses thermal imaging cameras to visually represent the infrared energy emitted from a surface. These visual representations are known as a thermal images or thermograms.

Redcurrent use the most accurate and sensitive thermal imaging cameras available to the commercial sector. The cameras have a thermal sensitivity as small as 0.065°C enabling the finest image detail even at low temperature differences. This makes it possible to apply thermography to an array of applications.

At Redcurrent the majority of our work is focused on identifying electrical and mechanical faults, structural defects and heat loss from buildings, and assisting with the research and development of new products.

Due to the versatility of thermography and the specification of our equipment, Redcurrent is always interested in developing new and innovative processes for other applications. To find out how we can help please contact us.

Thermographic Equipment

Redcurrent Ltd understands that in addition to having extensive experience and qualifications, it is vital to have the right equipment, if you are to be competitive in the thermography sector. Redcurrent Ltd use the Flir ThermaCAM P-Series Specification cameras and Flir Reporter™ software; the most advanced thermographic cameras and analysis software available within the commercial sector.

To achieve true high quality images three cornerstones need to be in place; a detector with many pixels resulting in detailed high resolution images, a detector with high sensitivity for seeing the smallest temperature differences and a high quality powerful lens. The FLIR ThermaCAM P-Series cameras combines a very powerful lens and state of the art detector technology to ensure the best image available of all performance cameras.

640x480 pixel resolution

Higher resolution improves your inspections providing higher accuracy of measured temperatures spotting even small objects from a distance. This is of critical importance to many thermographers who need to minimize risk of missing faults that can develop to catastrophic failures.

High sensitivity

The thermal sensitivity in the FLIR ThermaCAM P-Series camera is 65mK. With a high sensitivity the camera is better able to capture the finest image details even at low temperature differences. High detector sensitivity is particularly important for building applications where temperature differences are typically lower.

Powerful and interchangeable infrared lenses

A large diameter lens means more IR radiation reaches the detector, resulting in high quality IR images. The high precision germanium lenses in the P-Series with integral USM advanced focusing system and/or independant manual focusing are designed to take full advantage of the 640x480 pixel FPA detector.

Certified Thermographer

When undertaking a thermographic survey of your plant and equipment, ensure the company has the following in place:
1 Ensure the surveyor is at least PCN level 1.
2 Ensure the report is certified by a PCN Level 2 Thermographer.
3. Ensure the company has comprehensive method statements/Risk Assessments.
4 The company has... both professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
5 . Ensure the equipment used is both suitable and calibrated

Thermal Imaging Competition

With introduction of cheaper (low quality) thermal imaging cameras, competition within the thermal imaging sector has never been greater. However, Redcurrent have differentiated themselves from the majority of their competitors by using top of the range equipment enabling them carry out thermal imaging surveys to a superior standard.

Electrical Thermal Imaging

We at Redcurrent Ltd have recognised a marked increase in demand for thermal imaging surveys of electrical distribution in response to underwriters’ requirements. This technology is the only non-intrusive method of identifying high resistance contacts (loose connections) and over loading whilst the equipment is in operation. A thermal imaging survey is an efficient, effective and safe inspection method which can provide auditable assurance of asset health.
